Price: $220/person
5:1 student to instructor ratio
Minimum of 3 students to run this lesson
Never been on whitewater before or maybe you simply want to polish up and review your technique? Then this is the class for YOU! Get ready for two fun-filled days of learning how to negotiate a kayak through class I & II whitewater. All the time you’ll be under the careful guidance of our certified instructors. Our instructor to student ratios are never greater than 1:5 for this course so you are bound to get plenty of personal attention and instruction.
Day 1: Start off in the luxury of flat-water, a natural transition from the lake. In slow-moving current learn the art of peel outs, catching eddies and the ever-important river ferry. Cheer your classmates on as we build slowly and deliberately on each new skill. Fun is our aim, and success is our goal. After everyone is ready we’ll head downstream through moving water (class I), learning how to read the river as we look for obstacles, waves and eddies. Relax a bit at lunch and then you’re off to the rodeo in the afternoon as we continue to build our skills and work up to class II rapids – YEE HAW! For this fun-filled day be sure to bring your sunscreen, water bottle and gung-ho attitude.
Day 2: Yesterday was fun, and today is going to be even more so. Start the day off (after your morning coffee, of course) with a review of yesterday’s skill sets on easy class I. Depending on water levels and the class’ progression from Day 1 we may be running a different section of river. Either way, its going to be another fun-filled and exciting day. First we’ll play some games on easy sections of moving water to increase your paddling proficiency. Next – FUN, FUN, FUN! Class II whitewater is the name of the game today and your competent instructors will be challenging you to challenge yourself as you make your way through the waves. Who knows – maybe you’ll even try your hand at surfing? Our goal for today is paddling proficiency and competent basic river-reading skills. We want you to be kayaking the easy stuff on your own after you finish this class.
