Hi Everyone!

It’s Patty, your Renaissance Adventure Guides instructor from last night’s “Intro to the Roll” pool session!

Hope everyone had a good time last night!  Geordie, myself and Katie certainly did.  It's such a good feeling for us to leave class knowing that everyone did so well.  You all have a small part in making a life a better one to live!

Wayne - I am sorry to see you go!  I know you were here visiting and it's time for you to return to your home.  I enjoyed meeting you and hope you enjoyed your kayak experience.

Matthew - you were a brave soul attempting the first real roll of the class.  And successful you were!  Hopefully we will keep you rolling, rolling, rolling!

Abby - you had remarkable improvement by the end of class and I know you are going to be 100% successful next week as well!

John - hell of a hipsnap, brother!!  Happy to have you in class.

Brian and Allison - so happy you were successful with the hip snack drills off the kickboards.  It takes a lot of practice and the two of you persevered and mastered it!

Jackson - proud of you for sticking with it!  Glad you had a successful roll at the end of class.  We will get you tweaked up next week and get you more consistent.

Susan - you are one tough lady!  Never gave up once!  I look forward to seeing what else you have in store for us all!   Someone was asking me last night about the different boat sizes for the Dagger Mambas we have been using in class.  Here they are:

Mamba 7.5:  120-170 lbs

Mamba 8.0: 150 - 215 lbs

Mamba 8.5:  175-260 lbs

Here's what to expect next week (for those that are continuing) and the info once again about Open Pool Sessions and Renaissance on the River:

Mastering the Roll (Class #3):  This course is designed both for those who have never rolled but want to learn, and those that have been kayaking for years but want to improve their roll technique. Student to instructor ratios are kept to 4:1, so you can be sure to get individual attention. This course focuses on teaching an effective hip snap, proper paddle placement, and then putting it all together for a bomber roll! Gear is provided if you need it, or you can bring your own.

Also, please consider our Open Pool session on Thu night at the Golden Rec Center.  You can pay a $10 entry fee (to us) and if you need gear, we also rent for $10 per session.  It’s a great way to practice everything you have learned (or are about to learn).   Just keep in mind reservations are required.

And finally, there is “Renaissance on the River.”  Every Wed night, we go to the playpark in Golden to hold free sessions (instruction is free / gear rental is $10).  You can either paddle around in the pond with us and take it easy, or we can take you down the actual playpark run for you to get a taste of whitewater.    Since the water is running high and fast right now, we have inflatable kayaks for you to jump in (along with all the gear to keep you warm and floating) as well as guides to keep an eye on you.  It’s a GREAT way to have some fun and enjoy yourselves!  We are there 5:30pm to about 8pm.  Just look for our big box truck and come over to say hi.  The playpark is located on 10th Street in Golden (across the pond from the rec center).

If you have any questions, please email me!  I am also in the office everyday from 10am until 4pm.

Thanks so much and make it a great day!
