Mastering The Roll Class - 7/7/09

Hello everyone!
Last night's "Mastering the Roll" class was awesome!  I am so proud of everyone for sticking with it and for attempting your rolls.  Now, we just have to work towards consistency - which is easy to do with practice, practice, practice! 
Seth - you did a great job right off the bat!  We just need to work on keeping your head down!  I'm glad your mom was there to see your success, however.  It's fun when family is around - fo' sho'! 
Gabe - thanks for being so willing to try things out time and time again.  You did great on everything I threw at you and I know you are going to be a success on the river!  You have a lot of patience which will serve you well, I PROMISE! 
Bill - The Tall Willow!  Your roll ended up being more a sweep-roll which works!  I always say, "It's a good roll if you are breathing and nothing is broken!!"  Giggle.  Thanks for being so diligent and willing to keep trying.  
Cliff - My BIG man with an even bigger heart!  Just remember you have an advantage over the skinny folks - you have all that weight behind your roll to make it a good STRONG one each and every time.  With a little finesse thrown in - you are going to be a fantastic roller!    So proud of you. 
Craig - you did FANTASTIC last night.  You were so tough with giving it at least three of four tries each time you went under last night.  Now, we just need to make sure you can keep your head down on a regular basis and you will be good to go in the river!!
Mark - The Self-Proclaimed Stud Muffin!  Thanks for bringing your friends together and bring them to RA Guides.  We appreciate the business and personally,  I appreciate the new friendship.  You guys are going to have a GREAT time on your two day river trip in Glenwood later this month. 
Jennie -  you are one of the most tenacious people I have ever met!  You were determined to get at least one roll last night and I am so happy you did.  I'm glad your work schedule worked out as well and you were able to spend all three weeks with us. 
Trish - NEVER FEAR!  You have one of the most amazing hip-snaps I have ever seen and fantastic clearance in "Position 1" with your hands!  You were inches away from completing your roll and I have no doubts you will get it soon!  A few Open Pool sessions and I am 100% confident we will get you consistent. 
Now that everyone has the basics down in the pool, your next step should be a river course!  You need to learn how to get in and out of the current and how to use the river to your advantage.  We have one day courses available on Sundays in Denver and Glenwood Springs (for $120 per person) and also two-course courses available over a weekend in Glenwood Springs (for $220 per person).    We offer 10% discount to returning customers so please call if you are interested in booking.  Please explore dates and possibilities here: 
Also, please consider our Open Pool session on Thu night at the Golden Rec Center. You can pay a $10 entry fee (to us) and if you need gear, we also rent for $10 per session. It’s a great way to practice everything you have learned (or are about to learn).  Just keep in mind reservations are required.  You can do so here:  http://raguides.com/kayaking-school/pool-classes/open-pool/
And finally, there is “Renaissance on the River.” Every Wed night, we go to the PlayPark in Golden to hold free sessions (instruction is free / gear rental is $10). You can either paddle around in the pond with us and take it easy, or we can take you down the actual playpark run for you to get a taste of whitewater.    Since the water is running high and fast right now, we have inflatable kayaks for you to jump in (along with all the gear to keep you warm and floating) as well as guides to keep an eye on you. It’s a GREAT way to have some fun and enjoy yourselves! We are there 5:30pm to about 8pm. Just look for our big box truck and come over to say hi.  Here's more details:  http://raguides.com/blog/recent-adventures/join-ra-guides-for-renaissance-on-the-river-every-wednesday-night-starting-5-20-09/
