Mastering the Roll 6/17/10

Saturday, June 19 2010

Hi All,

It’s Patty, your Renaissance Adventure Guides instructor!

I just wanted to say thanks for taking the "Mastering the Roll" class with me this week. YOU GUYS WERE AWESOME!!   Congratulations for completing the series!!!

If you are ready to make the transition from the pool into the river (which I think you definitely are)....please consider a one day river trip with Renaissance Adventure Guides! During this one day class you will learn the basics needed to enjoy yourself as you paddle down a river.   We start by discussing hydrology and safety concerns and then move onto river skills. You will learn how to ferry, peel out and catch eddies. By the end of the day you will know how to get down a river in a fun and controlled manner. The river portion of this class takes place on the Colorado River near Dotsero (Exit 133 off I-70 W).   Please see available dates here: http://raguides.com/kayaking-school/beginner-kayaking-classes/k111-basic-river-course-weekend/

Or...please consider our Two Day Weekend Away in Glenwood Springs (it is SUCH a good time): Never been on whitewater before or maybe you simply want to polish up and review your technique? Then this is the class for YOU! Get ready for two fun-filled days of learning how to negotiate a kayak through class I & II whitewater. All the time you’ll be under the careful guidance of our certified instructors. Our instructor to student ratios are never greater than 1:5 for this course so you are bound to get plenty of personal attention and instruction. Please see dates here:   http://raguides.com/kayaking-school/beginner-kayaking-classes/k120-novice-river-clinic-colorado-river/

Don’t Forget:  Practice!  Practice!  Practice!  Our Open Pool session on Thu night at the Golden Rec Center. You can pay a $10 entry fee (to us) and if you need gear, we also rent for $10 per session. It’s a great way to practice everything you have learned (or are about to learn).   Just keep in mind reservations are required.  Here is a link: http://raguides.com/kayaking-school/pool-classes/open-pool/

Remember:   On Wed evenings through the end of July (or until the water becomes too low), we also offer free instructional sessions at the Clear Creek Whitewater Park (across from the Rec Center) on 10th St in Golden. We call these events "Renaissance on the River". If you need gear, rentals are $10 per person. Hours are 5:30pm to 8pm. No reservations necessary, just find us at our big truck. First come / first served.    Read all the details here: http://raguides.com/blog/recent-adventures/renaissance-on-the-river-2010/

A Club you should consider joining ($30 a year and all the kayaking friends you can handle): www.ColoradoWhitewater.org .   I am on the Board and having nothing but great things to say about them.

Just a reminder - If you need any gear (ANYTHING) please shop at www.GoldenRiverSports.net. Tell them I sent you and they will give you a fantastic discount!

Looking for used gear?  We sell some of ours at the end of every season, but also, check out the classified ad sections on www.mountainbuzz.com and www.eddyflower.com

If you have any questions, please email me! I am also in the office everyday from 10am until 4pm.

Thanks so much and make it a great day!
