Kayak Lesson on 6/23/09
Hello Everyone,
It’s Patty and Daniel - your instructors from Tue night's "Basics" pool session.
We just wanted to say "thank you" for last night as we did not really get a chance to say good-bye to everyone after our lesson. Everyone was fantastic and we really enjoyed teaching each of you.
A couple of things we wanted to tell you about: the first one is about your "Continuing Education". For those of you who have not signed up for the next two classes, you really should consider it. Here is a run-down of what you will learn:
Kayak Rolling Fundamentals (Class #2): This course is for people that want to learn how to roll a kayak upright or people trying to break some bad habits. This course focuses on learning all the basic steps to roll a kayak (bracing, hip snap and body position). Taking time to master these skills ensures a perfect roll. All gear is provided, just bring a bathing suit and towel.
Mastering the Roll (Class #3): This course is designed both for those who have never rolled but want to learn, and those that have been kayaking for years but want to improve their roll technique. Student to instructor ratios are kept to 4:1, so you can be sure to get individual attention. This course focuses on teaching an effective hip snap, proper paddle placement, and then putting it all together for a bomber roll! Gear is provided if you need it, or you can bring your own.

Also, please consider our Open Pool session on Thu night at the Golden Rec Center. You can pay a $10 entry fee (to us) and if you need gear, we also rent for $10 per session. It’s a great way to practice everything you have learned (or are about to learn). Just keep in mind reservations are required and these sessions fill up very quickly so make them well in advance. You can do so by calling the office or by using this link: http://raguides.com/kayaking-school/pool-classes/open-pool/
Lastly, there is “Renaissance on the River.” Every Wed night, we go to the playpark in Golden to hold free sessions (instruction is free / gear rental is $10). You can either paddle around in the pond with us and take it easy, or we can take you down the actual playpark run for you to get a taste of whitewater. Since the water is running high and fast right now, we have inflatable kayaks for you to jump in (along with all the gear to keep you warm and floating) as well as guides to keep an eye on you. It’s a GREAT way to have some fun and enjoy yourselves and bring a friend. We are there 5:30pm to about 8pm. Just look for our big box truck and come over to say hi. The playpark is located on 10th Street in Golden (across the pond from the rec center). No reservations necessary.
P.S. BUY SOME NOSEPLUGS for the next two classes. You will be glad you did! Go to Golden River Sports and tell them we sent you for 10% off! www.GoldenRiverSports.net
We look forward to seeing you the next couple of weeks,
Sincerely,
Patty and Daniel
