Basics Class 6/22/10

It’s Patty, your Renaissance Adventure Guides instructor!
I just wanted to say thanks for taking the "Basics – Intro to Kayaking" class with me last night. I had a lot of fun and I know Josh and Matt did too.
Just to review, for the “Basics” class you learned:
-different kinds/parts of whitewater kayaks
-the “wet ext”
-strokes (forward, sweep or turning and correction)
-the “hip snap”
-the “t rescue”

Our “Open Pool” practice sessions are on Thu nights at the Golden Recreation Center. You can pay a $10 entry fee (to us) and if you need gear, we also rent for $10 per session. It’s a great way to practice everything you have learned (or are about to learn). Just keep in mind reservations are required. ALSO - On Wed evenings through the end of July (or until the water becomes too low), we also offer free instructional sessions at the Clear Creek Whitewater Park (across from the Rec Center) on 10th St in Golden. We call these events "Renaissance on the River". If you need gear, rentals are $10 per person. Hours are 5:30pm to 8pm. No reservations necessary, just find us at our big truck. First come / first served. If you have friends that have never taken lessons (or you are not comfortable in moving whitewater yet), they (and/or you) are welcome to try our inflatable duckies!!
